Safeguarding during public testing
Learning should feel safe.
Support should be visible.
Open Potential places parents in control of learner accounts, learning preferences, assigned work and live sessions.
Parent-controlled access
Children use a learner profile inside a family account. Parents choose subjects, review learning preferences and can see completed work and support signals.
Live teaching
Sessions are scheduled for named learners and use a waiting room. Teachers must not move learner communication to private personal accounts. Parents should remain aware of the session and be available when appropriate for the learner’s age and needs.
Concerns
Do not use lesson notes or public feedback forms for urgent safeguarding concerns. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services. For a concern about activity on Open Potential, contact the Open Potential safeguarding lead through the contact page.
Testing boundary
Public testing is limited and supervised. A completed safeguarding review, documented reporting route and appropriate checks for teaching staff are required before wider live-teaching access is opened.
